        Two Months Prior  
Decide what will not go with you to your new location.
Plan a yard sale or check into consignment. This will help
you get better organized more quickly. ACE Movers can
arrange for consignment or sell of furniture and more
desirable items.

Begin searching for a moving company. Keep in mind that
most people move at the end and beginning of the month
and these dates are taken the soonest.

Be sure that the moving company you choose is fully
licensed with their state if moving within the state and with
the FMCSA if crossing state lines. These organizations
require each moving company to comply with certain
necessary guidelines to protect the consumer; e.i,
insurances.

       One Month Prior
Get a head start on packing. Begin packing things like
rarely-used china, off-season clothing items and anything
you are sure you will not need for the next month. You will
be amazed at the time and stress you have saved
yourself in the final crunch. Check out our packing tips

Start a box for transferring your medical records, school
transcripts, magazine subscriptions and billing information
including utility changes and cell phone services.

       One Week Prior
Complete all packing. It is best to have all items packed
and labeled before the moving company arrives.

For your final cleanup, do not use any type of polish or
oil on wood items. This will soften the wood causing it to
be more susceptible to damages.

Some things you will want to take along in your vehicle
are passports, jewelry, cash, deeds and any other
important documents and/or valuables.

Pack an overnight bag for each member of your
household. Even with proper labeling this will save time
and energy your first day in your new home.

Packing Tips
       Use only boxes that are sturdy and not worn. Moving  
companies will not load a box that could cause damage to its
contents.
       Pack boxes so that they are full but not overfull. A tightly
packed box is less likely to be crushed. Overfilling a box could
cause it to tear or break open.
     Label each box as it is completed marking the room to which it
belongs on multiple sides. Also, mark its general contents on the
top side to assist you while unpacking.
     Pack breakables and china in the proper dish-pack boxes. For
cups or vases, fill these items with paper as well as wrapping
them well with packing paper or bubble wrap. These types of
items often have sentimental value and cannot be replaced.
      The simplest way to pack is to let someone else do it for you.
